THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME

Living Rightly Before God (John 16:5-15) "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but gif I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has hcome, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, kbecause I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because mthe ruler of this world is judged." (John 16: 9-11) Just a bit before Jesus assention into heaven, (John 16:5) He settled the disciples concerns with these words, by telling them He would send the Holy Spirit to be with them and to guide them. The Holy Spirit He called the “the Advocate” (v. 7). He said it planly to them that the Holy Spirit would “guide [them] into all the truth” (v. 13). As a believer in christ today we receive the Spirit when we are born again into the family of God. When we trust in Him for salvation from sin (Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:13). WE have the priviledge of that guidance right from the beginning of our relationship woth God. From the first day after we believe His guidance is there for us everycday there after. He is there to number one convict us of sin and 2 to remind us of the truth of God's word. (John 14:26; 15:26). It is still just the same as it was with the disciples, He is there to provide the words we need to honor Christ in the good times and in the difficult ones (Mark 13:11; Luke 12:11-12). The only difference, the disciples in Jesus day, waited for the Spirit to come after Jesus assended into heaven, we have the spirit come as soon as e believe. WE can from the very conception of salvation, as God to give us a soft heart that will be receptive to the convictions of sin and we can ask God to give us a responsive heart to respond positively to the nudging of the Spirit. Let me dig into verses 8-11 for just a moment, I understand this is not our job, but it is the job of the Holy Spirit. Verse 8-11. 8- And when He has hcome, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: from this I understand it is the Holy Spirits job to convict the world, bith believers and non-believers alike. Also it is His job, to help us know if we are living righteosly for God, or if we are living a self-righteoys life style, which is not living a life for God. I believe there is a fine line here, of living according to the will of God and not loving according to the will of God.When it comes to Gods righteousness. And finally in this vers it says, judgement, it is not for us to cast judgement on one another. We are to judge right and wrong, but we are not to try make a final judgement on someone else, that is not our position or job to do so. That is the job of the Holy Spirit, that is Gods domain. 9- Here is verse 9 He goes through it - we are onvicted of sin because when we sin, in that moment we are not believing the truth and there has been a doubt in our faith and belief in God. Sin is unbelief. 10- in verse 10 he convicts men of righteousness, He gives people a conviction if they are not walking according to the Spiriit of righteousness. His job is given to Him in this sense because Jesus will be gone to heaven and the spirit will carry on the work Jesus was doing. Because we will not see Jesus physically as the disciples did, until we meet Him again when He returns. But the spirit will be here as our guid. 11. Then in verse 11- of judgment, because the ruler of this world satan is judged by the Holy Spirit, in so doing He proves that evil, (the devil) has already been defeated, the war is won and He has no ground to stand on, he is standing on the edge of hell. His judgment is just one step away from him going over that edge and into hell forever and forever. (Matthew 25:41) As the Holy Spirit continues His work in lives today He helps us, so we will not fall away from God.(v. 1) allowing us peace and rest in the fact that we can enjoy and we do a life that is anchoured in a firm foundation, who is Jesus Christ. In the fact that we have eternal life. us the gift of the Holy Spirit to convict us when we begin to vear off the road, the straight and the narrow way. Also he comforts us when we’re sad and going through a pain just caused by life as it goes on,, and in so doing He leads us into worship and praise of the one and only true Gosd who cares for us. Father God, over the years I have experienced the nudges of the Holy Spirit many times. Thank you for allowing Him to work on me. It is so great to see that maturity happens more as we/I allow the Holy Spirit to do His work in me and in those you send us too. Please help me to remain faithful, until that great and wonderous day of your return. Help me to respond to Your Spirit’s nudges of grace and do th cork of correction in my life, and live in a better righteous life in You It is in your name I pray AMEN.
