WE ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE

You Know God That He does Exist Romans 1:18-32 The bible is pretty clear in this passage, that man has no excuse for not knowing and believing in the fact that God existes and that God created the world. Someone who is blind to the spiritual things of God, often comes to the relizaion it is true and come to the place where they do believe that there is a God who created everything and even created them. My eyes and ears, and the brain that I think with, helps me see and know God. If I did not have eyes, I would not be able to see the things of nature that scream out, "THERE IS A GOD" Without my ears, I would not hear the sounds that say, there had to be a creator behind such a beautiful sound, sounds like the babbeling of a rippling brook, or the crash of the waves against the shore, the rumble of a waterfall, of the sweat songs of the little birds in the forest. All of these things reveal to us the fact that there is God and His glory is behind it all. Yes, God is in creation, He was in the incarnation of Jesus being God and became a man, bringing the gospel to us through the scriptures. But really I beleive it is not just our physical eyes and ears, that bring the reality to us that the glory of God is real. The bible says, “Seeing they do not see,” Jesus said (Matthew 13:13). Those people who do not believe in God, have physical eyes and ears and still do not see or hear the things that make God real. Often it takes much more than the physical. (Ephesians 1:15-23) listen to what verse 18 says, that we must have “the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know”. It is interesting to note here that our heart has eyes. But Paul seems to suggest, the eyes of the heart often needs to be opened before we can really see and know God, in a personal and spiritual way. Because of the things the scriptures tell us, I believe the heart is much more than just an organ in my body pumping blood through my veins. As the scriptures speak of the heart as been the real us, because we have a heart/soul/life, we know there is more to us than just flesh and bone. If we were nothing more than a sack of potatoes, we would not speak as we do of love and grace, life and death, pain and sorrow, we are so much more than just an existing piece of earthly furniture. So lets stop and look at the Eyes of the Heart. We need to see “the eyes of the heart” as our spiritual inner person inner, who is the soul of who we are. That is fed, and brought to reallity, by the things the eyes and ears of the body can both see and hear. My friends, there is a spiritual sight and a spiritual sound beyond the natural. There is wisdom that comes from somewhere beyond us. I believe that because of what the scriptures say, we all are without excuse, because we all know there is, God, because of what He created. So something happens in us, when our hearts eyes see the glory of God. What happens when the heart sees the glory of God? It is because of these spiritual eyes, that,Paul says we all “know God.” Also that because of these spiritual eyes being blinded by satan and by sin, Paul says this, “Although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him” (Romans 1:21). Paul emphatically says that by nature people do not know God. He says, “In the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom” (1 Corinthians 1:21). The “Gentiles do not know God” (1 Thessalonians 4:5). Formerly “you did not know God” (Galatians 4:8; see 2 Thessalonians 1:8; 1 John 4:8). So then, "Who Knows God"? Paul Romans 1:21 says that all human beings “know God”? Just read a couple verses before again, (Romans 1:19–20), “What can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.” But there is more, God has placed a written law on every mans heart, so that they have the ability to know good from evil.(Romans 2:14–15), Paul writes that people who have never heard of the law of God, yet often will do what the law requires of them to do. Why? “They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts.” It came with the creation of man from the very beginning. So,“Knowing God” is much more than just the physical eyes and ears we have, it goes much deeper.(Romans 1:21) this verse also includes heart of the matter.(Romans 2:15). The analogy that I find helpful that somewhere in the heart is material that is filesd away that tells us there is knowledge of God in the human heart. That information is files away by God,so He can open the eyes (that file) that corresponds to the glory of God, so the information can be laid before every person He has created. We would know God is real, and God is the one who made us and we were made to fellowship with Him and to bring Him Glory. The reason we do not see ot believe there is a God, is because that file is locked away as our hearts become hard. The lock on the filing cabnet has become rusty, and does not wan to open, so therefore with the drawer rusted shut, the glory of God does not shine through. Hard hearts do not see the glory of God. (Ephesians 4:18). When this hardness sets in, that individual has no use for God, or does not even see the fact that there is a God. So then the natural human selfishness sets in and their mind-set become hostile to God, to the extent they believe there is no God (Romans 8:7). And Jesus said that “light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light” (John 3:19). Here in lays the problem, it is not the fact that there is no light, but the truth is, we have come to the place where we love the dark, because we think it will hide the deeds we are doing, that deep down in our hearts we know God is there and our deeds do not bring glory to Him. So when you hear about a hardened heart, or a blinded heart, this is what is being spoke of. I believe with in every person, is a mold made by God for God. That mold, instead of being filled by God,is instead filled with the love of material things, selfish things, prideful things, basically is filled with sin, so there is no room for God to fit in that mold actually that was created for Him. It is because of this, that when the glory of God shines onto the heart, nothing gets in, nothing and therefore the unbelief about, creation, incarnation, Jesus or anything related the gospel, finds no place ready where they can fit into that life, whech tells us, the eyes of the heart have been blinded, by sinful living. There is no feelings towards spiritual things because it is felt or at the least perceived that way of thinking does not fit in the heart that is hardened.(1 Corinthians 2:14,John 8:37). So because of this blindnss of the eyes of the heart, they twist Christs words his words, so they do not see them as truth, as glorious and or beautiful, but rather when they hear them or see them, it is dulled to the point, wher ethe light has a hard time penitrating the darkness within the hardened heart. What hope is there for the heardened heart? Gods light is powerful, and it can soften the heart, and drws a person towards the light, and as the light of the Son, warms the exterier hardnes, it is then there is a glimmer of hope that one might see the glory of God in nature, in the scripture as God begins the task of chipping away at the diamond-hard surface of a life, in so doing He begins to replace the information in those files and the glory of God starts to penitrate and erase the things that were packed into that heart and print the new material of the glory of God on those pages that were files there. To the place where the eyes of the heart, (spiritual eyes of that person are opened and they believe, where at that point God will empty that hard heart and make it soft and reseptive to the things of God. So what is happening at this point? Well, supernaturally, God is at work shining His being into that heardened heart His divine glory (2 Corinthians 4:6), and as a granting of truth and repentance (2 Timothy 2:25), and as the giving of faith (Philippians 1:29), and as raising us from the dead (Ephesians 2:5–6), and as new birth by the word (1 Peter 1:23; James 1:18), and as the special revelation of the Father (Matthew 16:17) and the Son (Matthew 11:27), and as the enlightening of the eyes of the heart (Ephesians 1:18), and as being given the secret of the kingdom of God (Luke 8:10). These scriptures explain what happens as the eyes of the heart are opened to knowing God. Friends, this is when the miracle of God happens in our lives. God glory cut through, and begins to cuts burn and imprint of God into our minds and souls (hearts) melts the ice and removed the scales from the files so long burried in the fale cabnet, and the love of God takes its place. And in a miraculious move of God we are made knew in Christ. Old things have passed away, and all things have become new. Now, we see, where before we only saw foolishness and false fanticies, but now the light is on and we see the truth. Father God, thank you for opening the eyes of my heart, and now what was once boring, absurd, foolish, mythical is now truth and really real, no one can change my mind now. For Greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world. (1 John 4:4) AMEN
