Patience Is A Vertue
Working While Waiting
Psalm 27:1-14
David’s prayer in Psalm 27 (vv. 7-12) “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life” (v. 1). As David choose to dwell of God rather than His situation in this Psalm, so can we. He says, God is my light, He is my guide and will safely lead me into His presence and the goodness and love He provides for those who follow Him. After all He is my salvation, He came to deliver me from my sin and from dangers against my life and the grave. Friends, God is and can be ecknoledged as your stronghold, He will provide a strong place for you to take shelter in a storm. Where you will find refuge and feel secure. David knew who God is and had the courage to ask Him, “Who shall I be afraid of ?” (v. 1). He asked without having any fear, because He knew Gods promises, to never leave him nor forsak him. So my dear friends as we wait, on God today, we can still put our trust in His promises, they are as true today and they were back when dDavid wrote this Psalm. So I say to you, “be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (v. 14).
Believe me this, you will be glad you did, waiting on Him for His answers to your prayers is not a waste of time because God's plans for you, are for your good, in His time. He has the very best for you in mind, according to His will. This is true, even if we cannot see see it happening in this moment, believe God, it is in the works.
We simply need to “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (Psalm 27:14). Why? Because God is faithful, He is “light, He is” “salvation,” and HE is our “stronghold” (v. 1), trust Him, for He does offer hope amid the struggles we have in the darkness (v. 3), Call upon Hom snd ask for comfort during your present trials (v. 13), as Him to give you security and keep you safe in your day to day. AS you come into His dwelling place in both the good times and the bad, you will not only feel His presence, you will also see that He is a keeper of his word as He watches over you day by day as you acknowledge Him.(v. 5).
Even though the answers many times do not come right away, we can still put our complete trust in Him, because He is God and He cannot lie. He will keep His promises. So do not hesitate to bring your heartaches and pain to Him,also ask for His guidance for our hearts as we seek after Him. Yes, He will make us to “Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (v. 14). He will be at your side, He will always be working for your good.
In waiting for Jesus to return and for His answers to our prayers, we musttrusting His timing and keep the hope during hard times without giving up or getting angry.Biblical Meaning of WaitingTrusting God's Plan: True patience is not just sitting still. It He has given us, and continue to activly choose to continue in His service. Moving forward, sharing the good news with a new found strength and courage only He can give.. Remember the scripture that tells us, "Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, they will fly on eagles wings.
We need to take to heart what Psalm 37:7 says ("Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him") and (Psalm 46:10) be still and know I am God." as well as (Romans 12:12)"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer") We are different then people in the modern day world who pushes a fast pace and quick results, with instant gratification, in most areas of life, most times God is not in to fast and quick fixes I know, it is with in our DNA that to have to wait, kind of goes against our grain, against our human desire for we want to control everything, and we cannot.
When we have a sickness, we want it to be cured now, waiting for healing and asking for guidance, then waiting more for Gods answers can bring doubt and fear when we do not anchor our hearts in faith and trust in God and His ways.
God sees, when we patiently wait and remain active in the work of the Lord while we wait. Especially as we wait for the Lord's return, living with active faith. I am always amazed the faith it takes to be a farmer. He in faith puts the seed in the ground, he tends the soil day by day while trusting the harvest will come. Like this spring, things were so wet, but as soon as the ground was dry enough to begin seeding again, the farmers were out there putting seed in the ground even though it seemed to be getting very late in the season.
In James 5:7-8 he compares the believer's wait to a farmer waiting for autumn and spring rains to grow a precious crop. Jesus taught in parables that watching for His return involves faithful, diligent service rather than idle standing around. As we look at patience we see it is an active, God-given strength to endure hardship without losing hope, to continue to do the work of the Lord While waiting, continue serving others, in the process of waiting for His return. The bible says to warch, and work , for the night is coming when man shall work no more.(John 4:9)
