Obey His Law Afresh
Heed God's Instructions
Judges 4:1–9
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one [a]jot or one [b]tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. (Matthew 5:17-18)
Through the leadership and example of the judges, Gods people returned to Him, and they began once again to trust Him and obey His law afresh. If Gods people back then could begin anew, the bible tells us, that God is the same yesterday, today and forever, so there for we can take their lead and make the choice to do the same. After all, God will give us the strength to trust and obey Him no matter what may come our way, in these times of trouble.
If we take a look at the book of Judges, it builds a bridge between Joshua and the time that Saul was King. (see 1 Samuel 9). It takes us through a time when Israel has fallen away from God. God is going to discipline them for their disobedience and sends another army from a nation that is near by to do just that. Then as God does, He rescues them by sending one of His judges to help them overcome. Then also as He often does, He shows them it is so worth it, to be in tune with God and to follow His laws. As He now taked them through a season of spiritual revival.
As amazing as it may seem, God chooses a woman judhe, who was Deborah and was the 4th of 12 judges (Judges 4), and her leadership of Isreal lasted for 40 years. It was through the leadership and example of these 12 judges, the people of Israel returned to God, and God helped them to trust Him and obey His law afresh. This writing should encourage us today to trust God understanding He is still the same tday and He will give us the strength to trust and obey Him afresh, if we will only turn to Him, and that it does not matter what we have done nor what we are facing at this time.
In order for us to heed the call of God to us today to obey God’s law afresh. We need a deep desire for spiritual renewal, we need a revival, where we as Gods people today will turn to God with a new moral clarity that says to God, we are hungry and we are ready to follow you to the end. Friends we must come into alignment with Gods divine truth. In obedience we must turn away from luving an imoral life style and doing things that are wrong, and begin once again to live by and honor God's enduring moral laws and live in a new light in rellation to them.WE must begin to put into practice the two most important commandments, Love the Lord your God, with all of your heart, soul and mind and to love your neighbour as yourself.( Matthew 22:37-40)
My friends, this means living righteously and repenting of our sins and turning only to God. We must move away from indifferences with each other, regroup and centre our life on the word of God and on our faith. We need to follow the commands of God as Jesus set forth for us, in the new testiment, because Jesus said, I did not come to abolish the law, but rather to fulfill it. (Matthew 5:17)
So therefore we need to be living by the power of the Holy Spirit, whom Christ in His love for us gave us along with the grace of God,rather than living by some ritual of obligations to try and obey all of the commandments of the old testimant. As we follow Christ and do His will, that will happen outomatically as we groe in Christ. We cannot do it on our own.
We must see that inorder to heed God's instructions in the hard times of today, it means we must trust Him and obey His word more and more even when things that have happened to us, hurt so bad we can't stand it any more. Friends it is make the hard chices, to stay faithful even when things are dark around us. If we are to survive, we need to believe that God knows best even when we do not understand what is happening. Believing that if we follow the Bible and walk in the examples Jesus left for us to follow even if it seems hard to do so.
What it really is, is choosing faith over fear, over worry and facing our trials head on. A good example from the bible is Abraham, who left his home to go to a new land without knowing where he would end up. Also Job lost everything he owned and suffered greatly, yet he still trusted God. Then there was Daniel who prayed to God even though it meant he would be thrown into a den of lions. Then the greatest example of all is Jesus, He obeyed His Father's will all the way to the cross during His greatest suffering of all times on the cruel cross ar Calvary.
Friends, in order to live this kind of a life, we must stay close to God and His words, by digging into it every day to find His strength, and to be refilled by the Holy Spirits power of a daily bases. And don't forget prayer, we need to talk to God about our pain and His plans by ask Him to help us to live in obedience to Him.
Father God, I remember over the years the many times you have reminded me of the fact that you are always there to help me live in a way that will hounor you. Lord, today I ask you to help me stay on the right path, taking one step at a time, in the right direction, on the straight and narrow road that leads to eternal life. Thank you, Lord for sticking with me, for I am weak and need your strength every day. For it is in your name I pray AMEN.
