God Provides
God Will Meet All Of Your "NEEDS"
(Psalm 23, Philippians 4:15-19)
Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditusi the gifts you sent. They are a fragrantj offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet all your needsk according to the riches of his gloryl in Christ Jesus.(Philippians 4:17-19)
God has many ways of meeting our needs meeting as individuals and in the church in the church. For us as missionaries hHe met those needs through individuals and churches who were following Jesus and was willing to give as He had commanded them to do. In Acts 20:35, Paul quotes Jesus, who said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive. Yes, as Psul had a partnership with the Philippian Church, so we had parterships with friend and churches across Canada, who God used to provide our needs over the years. It was such a blessing to see those faithful people continue in partnership with us even as we ventured overseas in obedience to Gods leading. I know as we served God fully, we were able to because of these faithful followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
God has been so good to us over the years, as we entered into His fellowship with so many other like minded believers who became a part of our calling. They be came a a sharer in the gospel, they were our partners on the mission field. Paul told the Plippian church you sent me aid more than once when I was in need”(15-16). We had one church that made sure our first christmases were good ones, when we first went to the Yukon. Tjhey sent goodies and gifts, which made for a very special christmas for our children as they trasitioned into the North. Friends, if you decide to answer the call God has placed on your life, He will provide for our spiritual and practical needs, above and beyond what you can emagine. God may also choose you to be the one that helps meet those needs of someone going to the field.. In a sense you are also going as God has you provide the needs of those He has called to go. He may use us as the means to help meet the needs of others.
When God meets need, they are not just coincidences. But rather they are miracles, of God to us, there is nothing that just happens. Listen to Gods words: “My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). The promise might seem empty to a town or community that has just experiences a natural desaster or a raging forest fire, that has wiped out their homes and town. But Paul, who was in prison when he offered this encouragement, was no stranger to hardship. Thats right, Paul wrote this book of encouragement from a prison cell, and it was not a padded one like prisoners have today here in our country. It was hard, and it was cold. Most times they were in shakles of their arms, legs and neck. But not all of the time obviously, because Pail was able to write at times.
Paul wrote a letter of thanks to the church in Philippi for meeting the much needed financial gift. If they had not listened to Gods call to provide, Paul said other than what they sent, he had been neglected (v. 15). But God used the church in Phillipi to meet his needs. Pauls word here praised God, who provided the “riches of His glory” found in Christ Jesus our Savior, in whom we have “every spiritual blessing” (Ephesians 1:3). We need to acknowledge all gifts, taking note that our happiness/joy, our peace, and being told the truth, plus our salvation, all of these are the things He provides for us every day. Because of His love and kindness, He’ll provide a drink of water at the right time, if we are needing a drink at that moment Friends we have a loving, generous God.
Friend, do you have a thankful heart today? Is there a spiritual of physical need that has been met, that you need to be thankful for?
Can you thank God for it, even before it comes, because you know He is faithful and will meet all of your needs.
Pray, God, I thank You for being a loving and caring God,who provides all of my spiritual and practical needs today according to Your will and according to your loving riches, as your Your glory is protrayed through your generous heart in Christ Jesus. Thank you Lord, it is in our Name I pray AMEN.
