TEAM JESUS
TEAM WORK
Ecclesiastes 4:7-16
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:7-12)
Ecclesiastes seems to be a book that brings out everything that is meaningless. (v7) another example of something meaningless under the sun.
This book can seem like a book that has wrotten in is someones musings of someone who is down i the dumps and filled with anger and bitterness. Where the message that does come a cross points out that life is pointless. Here is chapter 4 is more of the same. Chapter 4:4 looks at “toil and all achievement through a bleak foggy scope. It says, “There was a man all alone,” he says. “There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth”(v. 8). Friends , listen, when we live for self and self alone, things get tired real fast. We get restless and I get itchy feet and need to do something for someone. As you read you will find a sliver of hope in this writing in todays scripture. He says, “Two are better than one” (v. 9), and “a cord of three strands is not quickly broken” (v. 12). So find a friend you can help and work together at what ever you are doing. Because when we are left to ourselves, whatever it is that we are doing becomes and feels like it is being done in vain. God wanted us, to somewhat depend on each other to get things done, but mostly He wants us to live with Him at the center of our lives (see 12:1, 13-14). In Him, our work becomes teamwork, and as a new friend of mine says, we become TEAM JESUS as He helps us accomplish what He wants us to do.
If you would like to know, I have been on Jesus team for many years now, but recently, I joined the Fellowship of Christian Farmers, and that is who my friend calls Team Jesus. We as the Fellowship Of Christian Farmers Canada, represents a community of faith and unity, emphasizing fellowship, service, and following Christ’s teachings, all from different communities, and different churches with one God and one faith that have a desire given by God to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with anyone who will listen.
As I have worked along side this team the last few months, I have noticed there is one desire and that is to share the gospel with passion, because of what Jesus had done in each one of our hearts, He has made a difference and we want the world to know. In saying that, it is the goal that each believer, each disciple should have, because of what Jesus tells us in (Matthew 28:16-20) as He was speaking to the 11 disciples, but I believe He is speaking to all disciples, which would include each one of us,and it says, "And Jesus came and spake unto them (disciples in general), saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Such teamwork in our world today is a beautiful thing, for four days at the Ponoka Rodeo, I experienced this kind of unity as we shared the gospel with many who were seeking a spiritual connection with God as we shared the secret to the most meaningful work of our lives. And here in Ecclesiastes, Solomon explains how that basic teamwork works. He says,“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: if either of them falls down, one can help the other up” (4:9-10). In the New Testiment Paul build on this saying we should view teamwork as a key to the work of the church: “There are many parts, but one body” (1 Corinthians 12:20). He further explained that there should be “no division in the body” (v. 25) as everyone serves together, caring for each other. Friends, this is the way to make it work, with each part pulling the load God has given them, many hands make light work.
In our work, our family, or in the life of the church, there are absulutly none of us who can do it alone. We need each other when someone falters, and we need each other as we combine our talents.Teamwork is vital as we set to do the work of God, in sharing the good news through words and actions in the love of Christ, when we are out to fulfill the goal of what God has asked us to do.
Father God, thank you, for calling me into service in your army, as soldiers of the Lotd we march forth as we put on the armour of God. Thank You, Jesus for adopting me into the family of God, and for guiding me to work together with others in sharing the good news of Jesus. Please help me to be the kind of helper others can depend on, help me to work in unity with others as you open doors, please help me to be a good decerner of the door that you open, and not the ones I think you have opened. We need to walk in your spirit. Thank you.. It is in Jesus name I pray AMEN.
