Living Within The Promises Of God

Present Suffering-Future Glory (ROMANS *:18-28) Keep your lives free from the love of moneyq and be content with what you have,r because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5,6) Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6) live within the promises of God means I believe they will come true and will actively move towards seeing them fufilled in my life. I will do what =everit takes to see them come to fulfillment. First, because of God's promise that activily living my life for God by seeking Him, I will recieve the blessings of God. This is done by anchoring my daily life in His faithfulness to keep His promises. As I do this it transforms my life, because any doubts that were there will go away and I will live my life in steadfast hope, believing that every promise God has made will be fulfilled in Christ. As I live this lifestyle God, will empower me to walk in patients and love through times of waiting and hardships with a peace that only can come from the strength of the Holy Spirit in my life. So as a believer, I have the assurance God will keep His promises given to us in His word. Because of this trust, I am able to trustingly act on those promises. In Genesis Joseph was still trusting God as he was also confident in the promises of God. Acting on that trust He told his brothers, I am going to die, but God is going to come to your aid and He is going to take you into the promised land, that He promised to take you up out of this land to the land he made a promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob” (Genesis 50:24). Joseph was sure that God would take His people into Canaan. So he instructed the Israelites, “You must carry my bones up from [Egypt]” (v. 25). Can you imagine God's promise coming true 400 years after Joseph died. Four hundred years later, during the exodus from Egypt, “Moses took the bones of Joseph with him” (Exodus 13:19). Eventually, “Joseph’s bones, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem [in Canaan]” (Joshua 24:32). Joseph so believed in God's promises, and those who followed after Joeph also believer and then were led by Moses to the promised land, and Moses succesor carried them in and burried them in the prpmised land. We need to follow Joseph’s great faith and believe that God will carry out His promises. I'm not sure exactly what Proverbs 22:6 is saying, but in it I see a promise of God, IT says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it." That I claim for my children. I believe I did everything I could under the instructons of God and His word, to bring my children up in the way they should go. I believe they will not be able to get away from that teaching, it was not mine but God's. I have faith (Hebrews 11:22) as Joseph had in the promises of God, we to can show our faith in God’s promises by acting on them. Let me finish off with this, (Romans 8:28) says:“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” So I believe that, just as “the Lord was with Joseph” (Genesis 39:2, 23), I too, can trust in His promise that He’ll be with me/us and He will never forsake me/us, I believe “We can say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid’ ” (Hebrews 13:5-6; see Psalm 118:6-7). Let me ask you this morning, what promises in the word of God, are you hanging your hat on? If that is so then we need to act on those promises and live by them. We must take practical steps in showing our faith in those promises. Gracious and faithful Father, our Great God,I want to thank You that you are a promise keeper, if you have said ot, it will come true. Your word is full of them, and so in your word I can trust and live my life accordingly, please help me to do just that It is in your bname I pray AMEN
