A True And Trusted Friend

Betrayed And Abandoned Psalm 55 "If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of God, as we walked about among the worshipers. My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant." Psalm 55:12-14,20 David the authour of many of the Psalms, here is Psalm 55 seems to be really emotional and in anguish and nursing a devastating pain in his heart (Psalm 55:4-5) this pain came about by the betrayal of someone he trusted, maybe a friend or family member what ever the case David discribes them as “my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship” (vv. 13-14). this can be and is very hurtful, to have a friend or a close family member turn their backs of you and abandon you. The scarres go very deep and it takes a long, long time to heal, if ever. Just as the psalmist did in the begining he thought he could go hide in the desert until the waves of hurt passed by. He was hoping that if he to isolated himself from everyone involved in the situation, the pain would go away. Just as he done, I too have done, you picture yourself as a bird or a wild animal running into the forest to hide, thinking the forest would give you a safe place to hide out. (vv. 6-8). Just as David finially did, I have done the same, instead of running away from God, He choose to run too God. Telling God that he knew that only God could heal him and rescue him and keep him safe (vv. 16-18). David says we need to “give our burdens to the Lord and he will take care of you” (v. 22 nlt). Just as God was with David so He is with us, and He hears us and walks with us when we’re experiencing the pain of a betrayed and abandonment in one or some of our relationships. Mt friend, He is there to provides grace and love in our time of deepest hurt, as we run to Him and place our trust in Him as we repent of our sins and as we look to Him for healing, forgiveness and if possible restitution. Let me tell you, Being betrayed and abandoned by a friend or family menber hurts deeply. I know it causes shock, anger, and grief, like a knife has been thrust into your heart and then twisted back and forth. When you feel this, it is only hatural, because love in these situations is very real. Therefore, I would be very surprized if those feeling were not there. And they are very valid and very real. I know it takes time, and it even takes a longer time, if you do not give yourself time to process those feelings, and to acknowledge the pain, the hurt and the anguish as it come rolling in. We may try to rush to fix, but there really is no way to successfully do that. You nor I can force fake sense of closure, we need it to be slow and steady so it heals well. It is very much like grief, like loosing someone close to you, in an accidental death. You will cry many tears, iften, you will vent your anger at them, at yourself and at the world,or you may just take a pen and paper and write out your emotions in black and white and that may help you see that they are real and give you a visual of what you have to deal with. All of the above is better than bottling up the anger, hurt, and sadness inside, you will only keep it bottled us so long and then it will explode either hurting yourself of who =ever is neat by at the time of the explossion. But one thing I found that I had to do, to begin healling and re-ipening the wound was to stop blaming myself and others for what I was feeling. We shoulden't play the blame game, but rather realize that what happened was a choice they made to betray or leave the relationship. It truly reflects who they are and where they are at in their own lives.. They are dealing with something much deeper than the relationship with you. Your character, and your worth is not the problem as far as your concerned. But as you prcess, it does come into play Because if we are just out to seek revenge, posting all of your emotions and feeling on social media doing a character assasination you are only prolonging your own hurt and stopping healing from taking place. You do need to find a safe place to land, and thats not out in the forest by yourself. But rather find a few good friends you trust to lean on. Lean on and to talk to and who are willing to offer support and a listening ear. In time, you will accept the reality of whats happened, not condonning it, but realizing there is not much you could have done to stop it from happening. Because you cannot force someone to forgive you, of you askrd for it, that too is their choice. You cannot force them to explain to you as too why it happened in the first place. What you do, have to do, is to process the situation yourself, bring it before God, taking a good and honest look at your relationship with them, as to if any what your part may habve been in the separation. Then, decide how you are going to handle it as a mature and loving and caring person seeking restitution and praying it will not be a permanent break. But at times when betrayal is repeated over and over again, continuing to love them, but putting up boundries to protect your well being is usually the safest choice for your own mental health. Not a total cut off, leaving open the chance for reconciliation, but protect your energy and you well being that you are no longer a door mat to be walked on. I believe with God all things are possible, we may limit contact for a period, and slowly those things which triggered all of the hurt and pain will subside and the possibility of reconciliation can return to the table for discussion. God is the mender of relationships, but it takes all members to perticipate. One person cannot mend a relationship. Let me finish off with these verses from Psalm 55:18-20, it says this, "He rescues me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me. God, who is enthroned from of old, who does not change— he will hear them and humble them, because they have no fear of God. My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant." We cannot fix it alone, it takes two to tango, and it takes two to solve problems within a relationship. My friends all we can do, is make sure we have done all we can to make sure we are right with God, and have done all we can to work on our part of the relationship. Then we place it into the hands of God and let Him work on the hearts of those who have hurt and betrayed us, leaving us abandoned and alone. We can be assured we are never alone, God is always with us. Father God, thank you, that you have promise to never leave us alone.. You said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. God you are a true and trusted friend. Thank you. In your name I pray AMEN
