Taking Responsibility For Your Sin

It Should Have Been ME (Romans 5:1-21) “Confessing ones sins to the Lord, is the way to beginning to get your life right before God. We must have a personal relationship with the Lord jesus Chrsit as the head of our lives, other wise its just a front and we are not serious about it. And in the end we may here the words no one wants to hear.. Depart from me I never kew you. In Leviticus 26:40 Confession is translated as “praise” (Genesis 29:35; Psalm 18:49)it can also mean to “give thanks” (Psalm 7:17). "Leviticus 5:5": says,“When anyone becomes aware that they are guilty . . . they must confess in what way they have sinned.” So even this early in the scriptures we see where confession is needed. When we realize we have sinned, it is good and needs to be confessed by the one committing the sin. When the scriptures or the Holy Spirit bring conviction to the soul of the intruder from within. Also God may use people and circumstances to ope they eyes of the one not seeing their sin. Really the truth of the matter is it doesnot matter how one is made aware, the antidote is the same, our relationship with God can only be restored by the confession iof that sin and by taking full responsibility for the sin committed. Like (1 John 1:9) says,“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. It is realizing the fact, that Jesus died on tge cross for your sins, that He took your place and you have come to the place where you admit it should have been you on that cross, but Jesus took your place paying the payent, "The wages of sin is death" but, "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Chrit our Lord. (Romans 6:23) This speaks of the profound weight of the grace of God when we realize what was done for us that day. Knowing that we fell short of God's best, that Jesus took our place because of His pure love for us. Some may look at the death on the cross as only historical. But when the relization hit a person and they confess their sin, what was historical before becomes very personal as the redemption from sin become reality, and the truth become a beautiful thing, that changes a life forever. Romans 5:8 says this,"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us". (Isaiah 53:5) says,"He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities". So,rather than carrying the guilt of our sin, Jusus Gods son took the penitlty for sin and forgave because we confessed and owned our sin. For me I will always have a thankful heart of gratitude to Jesus for such a great Sacrifice. I will always say with (Galatians 2:20) "The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me". So this morning take tome to read these verses and reflect on them. 1. James 1:14 “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.” Each on of us will face temptation to sin, at one time or another. Temptation from the enemy has been a part of life since the beginning in the Garden of Eden. And the fact is, God has given us the power to overcome those temptations. 2. James 4:17 “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is a sin.” Thats pretty plaon, we have been born with a sense of good and evil. 3. Ecclesiastes 7 “A good name is better than precious ointment…” 4. Ecclesiastes 7:20 “For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin. 5. Psalm 51:5 “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and my mother conceived me in sin.” Here is a reminder, even though we may have been born into sin, we can still make positive choices and pursue a life of righteousness. We must be willing to recognize our faults and seek forgiveness for our sins to be reconciled to God. So let me conclude, taking responsibility and confessing our sin is the only way to make things right between us and God. Which means taking ownership of our actions, no excuses, honesty accepting that it was me, who should have died on that cross. Father God, thank you, for the great sacrifice of Love, which you did for me, through your death on the cross. I know that it should have been me diying for my own sin, that was the price But you in your great love for your children you created, was willing to take our place. Lord, I pray for all my family and friends, that the y will realize it is up to them to take responsibility for their sin, and confess it and make things right ith you.. It is in your name i pray AMEN
