In Jesus Atonement For OUR Sin
GOD FORGIVES OUR SINS
(Exodus 32:15-24)
“Do not be angry, my lord,” Aaron answered. “You know how prone these people are to evil. They said to me, ‘Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him. So I told them, ‘Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.’ Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!” (Exodus 32:22-24)
Im not sure how many times Moses, was an introcessor for the people of Israel, and went to bat for them before the Lord to ask for His forgiveess for a wayward people that seemed to be stubborn and stiffnecked. Kind of like me at times, spiritually and physically. Yrs, many times in the recording or the Israelites 40 year journeyy from Egypt to the promised land of Cannan, Moses went to God to “make atonement for them, in the sins” they were committing again and again.(Exodus 32:30) introceeding on their behalf asking God to “please forgive their sin” and give them another chance (v. 32). Often God would listen and would do so, but also at other times He would use His authority, and would discipline the guilty. Using plagues to strike them down (vv. 33-35). AT this time, God took three thousand instigators of this great sin and they were blotted out of His book, the ywere put to death (32:21, 28). Yet, in the moment when Moses interceded on Arons behalf, God shose to spare Him. (Deuteronomy 9:20). 20 "And the Lord was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and (But, I prayed for Aaron also the same time. This saying that because of Moses intercession on Arons behalf, God spared Him and even allowed Him and His sons to become Priest of the temple.
This being a good example of what Jesus would do for us, as we just celebrated His ressurection yesterday Because of Jesus attonment, God has forgiven us and promised us heaven. Because Jesus gave Himself as “the atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 2:2) Today, He interceds for us before God when we sin and ask forgiveness, God promises to forgive us. (Romans 8:26), God “will forgive us our sins” when we “confess” them and repent (1 John 1:9).
As you read todays scripture, you will see that Aron is very much like each of us still today, Aron basically said, “It’s not my fault!” When I read what he says, you know very well, Aron knows he has to agree he should take some of the blame when he find himself and the people in this situation now, before God and Moses as their leader. But NO, he puts all of the blame on the peole and the rest just happened.. Out came the calf. But doesn’t want to admit his part in the calf being made.
Have you ever been there, I have. been there. AIn the moment it often seems easier easier to blame someone else rather than taking the blame for what you have done. As I read the scriptures, I find that the bible tells us, that finding a scape goat, pointing the finger at someone else came about when the first sin was committed, whe nAdam pointed a finger at Eve, saying the women you gave me made me do it. (Genesis 3:11-13), again it also happened here in our scripture reading today (Exodus 32:7-8) when Moses returned and confronted Aaron (whom he’d left in charge), Aaron pointed his finger at the people and said “You know how prone these people are to evil” (v. 22). Then refering to the golden calf he created,he said “They gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!” (v. 24). Just like magic "out came the calf" I'm sure Moses said, "REALLY"
But today, just as God spared Aron, because Moses interceeded for him, so God spares us, because Jesus died and rose again, and now interceeds for us, despite our willfulness in continuing to sin, God offers us forgiveness for that sin when we admit to Him we’ve done wrong. He assures us that He’s “faithful and just and will forgive us” (1 John 1:9). So my friends, when we are forgiven and received by Him, we can come into His presence and share our brokenness to God who sent His sone to lovingly take our sins upon Himself becaise of His agape love for us.
Can you pray with me? - these words, if not you need to ask for forgiveness today. Dear Jesus, thank you that I have been able to experience God’s forgiveness. Thank you, I can now share with others your love and forgiveness you have bestowed upon me, because of the sacrifice of your ONLY BEGOTTON SON. This you done for me, and every other person created on this earth, only if we will believe. and accept the gift of salvation. Lord, you tell us that today, is the day, we should make that choice, because once you return to take us home, it will be to late. In your name I pray AMEN.
