YOU PROMISED

You Will Remember Your Promises Psalm 119:49-56 Remember your words to your servant, for you have given me hope. My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. (Psalm 119:49-50) As fathers to our children it is so easy to forget the promises we have made and a way to easy not to carry them out. But God is different, He is God and He does not for get, yet still often as the Psalmest does in the scripture today. HE reminf=ds God of His promises just the same. He says, “Remember your word to your servant,” he wrote, “for you have given me hope” (119:49). How often do we make a promise to our children to give them hope, and then crush that hope by not following through. I am so thankful I don’t have a heavenly Father who is like me, being forgetful. No, we can come to Him not only with our hurts, problems, and disappointments but also in confidence knowing He’s a good Father: “My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life” (v. 50). Ot is so important to know the scriptures, I know I do not know them as well as I sould. I know that God invites us to meditate on them and in remembering them, call upon Him praying His promises back to Him, not because He forgets, but rather calling upon Him to be a part of our lives because we desire Him. The psalmist says, “I remember, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them. . . . Your decrees are the theme of my song” (vv. 52, 54). My distractions keep me from keeping my promises at time, and I mess up, but I have a loving Father who forgives me and allows me to make up and fulfill my duties in making things right again. Most of the time we are able to do that, but the odd time we have to live with our mistakes and learn from them, not to ever do it again. I am so thankful my heavenly Father is never preoccupied or too busy. He loves to hear us pray His words back to Him. We need to learn to pray through quoting the scriptures, God loves it when He hears us, using the word of God in praise and honour to Him, and in sharing the gospel with someone else. Here are a few of the Promises God makes to us, and He has or will keep them all 1. He promises us "Eternal Life through Salvation": John 3:16 one of the first verses I learned promises who so ever believes in Jesus will have eternal life and will not perish. 2.God promises me that He will always be with me. He says "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). 3. He promises to provide for all of my needs and to care for me. To meet all needs (Philippians 4:19) He says He will be my good shepherd, saying that I "shall not want" (Psalm 23:1). 4. He promises to forgive all of my sin.(1 John 1:9) promises that if I bring my sin to Him asking for forgiveness HE will forgive them. He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 5. He promises me peace even in tiimes of trouble and trials.God promises to keep those who trust in Him in "perfect peace" (Isaiah 26:3). 6. He promises to give me purpose even though I may go through suffering. (Romans 8:28)says He will work all things together for the good of those who love Him. 7. God promises to be my strength and my rest, Promising rest for the weary (Matthew 11:28) and strength when weak (Psalm 28:7-8). 8. He promises hope in my present and in my future. (Revelation 21:1-5) HE promises to walk with me, Psalm 23:4: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. He promises a new heaven and earth, where death and pain are abolished. 9. He promises guidance in my life, to keep me on the right path. (Proverbs 3:5–6) promises the Lord leads us and makes our paths straight. 10. WE can be sure, He will answer our prayers, HE promises, if we call upon Him, He will respond (Philippians 4:6–7). Father, God in heaven, thank you for all of your promises, I knw you are a promise keeper, and as long as I walk with you, I will see those promises coming true because you will keep me from going blind spiritually. Lord, please keep me from becoming overwhelmed with the busyness of going about your buisness, that I would not get discouraged or feel like giving up on life. Please help me to remember Your promises to me and that I will continue to walk in your ways. It is in your name I pray AMEN
