WITH WHOM DO YOU IDENTIFY
FINDING YOUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST ALONE
(Genisis 1:27, 2 Corinthians 5:12-21, Romans 8:1-15, and Ephesians 2:1-10)
Please read these scriptures as you seek your identity.
Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”(Luke 12:14-15)
As a Christian, I am defined by personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior I am not defined by my parents faith or my churches faith or by my friends faith, I am defined by s personal decission to FOLLOW CHRIST. By believing Jesus God's only Son died for my sins and for the sins of the whole wotld He also rose again from the dead to give everyone the oppotyunity to concore death and live forever. So then, for me,rather than just following rules or cultural heritage, I choose to follow the Bible and all of the truths of God, but you all need to know, in order to do this I need the power of the Hly Spirit in my life and that my friends involves being "born again" and in order to be born again by the Spirit, you need to trust and believe in God, believe in the grace and forgiveness of God for your sins and in so doing He will give you the power you need to strive to follow Jesus examples in life and to follow His teachings in all that you do in your life..
This is my identity in Christ, I pray this is how God sees me. I agree that, my up bringing and my culture plays a big part of who I am.. I believe everyone is looking to know who they are and why they are her? They ask, where do I belong and how do I relate to the world. With the situation in families and in marriages today, there is so many broken families, single moms, single dads, devorced parents to the place where children no longer know who they are and where they fit, and the world just keeps driving them farther and farther from the truth, by pushing and planting these false truths into their minds earlier and earlier in their young lives.
My bible tells me, all men and women, Male and Female are created in God’s image and as hard as we try, that cannot be changed at the core of our DNA. We as himan being wete created to represent the characteristics of God's character and nature. As I searched for my identiity, I was lost until I found Christ, and in Christ I found my identity as a follower of Jesus, when I was born again and the Holy spirit came to live within me, He filled the empiness that was created for Him to fill, and in Christ I became whole.
I know, the world encourages you to look and to just be yourself, take care ot yourself do your own thing, and in so doing you will find your identity. And yet there is a natural desire to search outside yourself, to find it.
The number one drive in the world and I think it has always been there, is to find your identity in your work/career. Get your education, find a high paying job, that brings in lots of money and in this search you will find your identity. This is what our society and our world pounds into our heads from the time we begin school, until we leave it to begin a so called life of our own.. But its not, it is manuscrioted into our lives by others. Andthat job, that career move, takes up all of your time and dedication and your attention, and you have no time for family, friends or God.I pray that this is not what defines your identity.
Because, this identity drives you to seek your identity in places like, financial success and a high status in society, and then it doesn’t stop the search continues into your relationships, how you look when you look in the mirror, how you succeed in school, your reputations has to be great with everybody. You are praying that once you have attained these thing, they will give you a sense of belonging and Isentity. But in the thick of it, you are still searching for peace, and yet none of them feel like a solid foundation, none of them feel like a secure future, why? Because anyone of them can change in a moment at anytime and months, days, hours, minitutes they can change.
As you chase these things, I am here to tell you you are setting yourself up for mager disappointments. As I sought to find my identity, there was only one thing that made me feel safe and secure in whatever I was doing and whereever I was living, there was only one thing that did not and will not change. After being born again, I had a desire to seek after God and His truth through the word of God, (THE BIBLE) And I found that God, was unchanging, He was reliable, He was always there in the good times and the bad, He fought my fights for me, or gave me the strength to fight them, About the time I thought I was finished and could fight no more, God was there to pull me through when I had no one else. I found Him to be as the bible says, He is the same yesterday, today and forever. In your search for identity, and if you have not found it yet, I challenge you, to give your life to God, you will never be disappointed when following His ways. You my friend will never be let down because He has proven time and time again to be trustworthy in the lives of many, many thousands of people could give testimony of finding their identity in Him..
It is important, that as you define your identity,to realize God is not just an aspect of who you are, like saying, “I am a Christian,” or ”I am religious,” or “I am spiritual”. but rather sayng, God is everything to me, I started with God, He created me, I is important to understand who God is, to read the word of God and listen to what He says about Himself He says about Himself and just as important as to what He says about you. He says about you.Because I believe our identity is found and defines by who God is making you to be as He creates you and changes you into His image.
Lord thank you, that I have been created in your image. Lord, I know that my sin separated me from you and distorted that image. Your love for me, caused you to pay muy penilty for my sin, by sending Jesus down to earth to die on the cross, to forgive my sin and to set me on the road to a new lifein Christ, and to restore my identity in you and to mature me in reflecting Your character and once again becoming more like Jesus every day I follow you. This happens through spiritual renewal, inner transformation as I seek my identity in Christ.
