Time Is Running
GOD's Perfect Time
"EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIME"
2 Peter 3:8-13
The apostle Peter, wrote and quited many Old Testiment scriptures, heres jus ta few in relation to time and its slownes and or passing. 1 Peter 1:24-25 [Isaiah 40:6-8]; 1 Peter 2:6-8 [Isaiah 28:16; Psalm 118:22; Isaiah 8:14]; 1 Peter 3:10-12 [Psalm 34:12-16]; 1 Peter 4:18 [Proverbs 11:31]). Also 2 Peter 3:8 and Psalm 90:4: “A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.” As we study we will see that time, is in conection with God’s eternal governing man in his time here on earth. So it is, because God loves us, we can rest securely, knowing that our times are in His hands and His timing is perfect. He has a purpose for leaving us upon this earth for such a time as this.
AS the weeks go by, they seem to go by quickly and yet in the moment of the day, it seems like time slowly drags by So it is, as I get older time seems to pass by slowly in the present hours, yet over all I do not know where the last 5 years have flown, it seems like yesterday, we returned from Africa in the middle of COVID, and yet that was now five years ago, plus. But more and more as I get older, the days seem long, while the years seem to be flying by at a break neck speed.
So I ask myself, why is time dragging on and why is it flying by so fast?
Well, its flying by so fast because, I don't remember everything that has happened in the past, and therefore time gets compacted in my brain. So it feels like just yesterday, I tuned 40 and in Augest this year Ill be 70, and30 years have gone by. And now, as I have gotten older, my brain is only remembering my routine and even some of that its forgetting. So those things that are strong and important stick, and the rest go out the window. So in order to slow the world down we need new experiences, that are exciting and will stick in our memories and make the time feel a little longer.
When we do things that keep our brain younger, it stores more vivid pictures. store more vivid, more action pictures that keep us going. Because other wise, we just remember things like our first love, I'll never forget the day I met my wife. I'll never forget the first year when going to bible school, and that is why my first friend from bible school days stick on tell his passing this past year. Als there are things from my childhood, I will never for get. I'll never forget Nanny, my old goat, who helped me haul fire wood. Or old Bing and Sing our twi faothful cattle dogs, no dogs since them have been as faithful or as good. They coyld not be replaced.
But as my faith has grown, or I pray it has, I have come to realize that trusting in God's timing and believing His and purpose for my life is perfect, even when His timing changes my plans. Because I have learned that His timing in life and in answering my prayers is never late and it is never to early, but rather right on time. His timing, will be such that it will fulfill His promises, it will provide for my needs, also the events that happen around me were event pllanned by Him before I was even born. His plans from away back then, were plans that were for my ultimate good and to fulfill His purposes in my world.
So, beginning to understand Gods timing has really helped me in these later and last days. Because I have learned to wait for the day and the coming of the Lord with an expectant heart. Also while waiting for prayers to be answered, to stay hopeful. Even though I am still here, I know that God as is actively working even though at most times I cannot see what He is up to. In that waiting I know that His delaying is not a denial of me, or of what is coming. Rather it in preparation for it too happen. In this time, God is building my character, while protecting me from things not meant for me. And in this process I want to align with God's Will for me. That is my desire. I want to see, that God makes everything beautiful in its time, I have to believe that in these end time events the ywill happen precisely on time with His wisdom and under His control.
"When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen" (Isaiah 60:22). I believe that aiting in faith is not wasting my time; if I am using this period to trust in God's faithfulness and divine plan, and going about His buisness spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.
Friends, God has created us un such a way that we can measure time And in that time we can stand firmly in Peter’s words: “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years” (2 Peter 3:8). As time has gone by, I from time to time have wondered about Gods timing, yes, its easy to become a bit of a doubter, and complain a little that Jesus hasn't returned yet, so will He ever? But just because it seems slow, the bible tells us, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness” (v. 9). God works in His own time for His own purposes. Friends have faith, God’s “timing” is born out of His love: “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish” (v. 9). Jesus will return, and God wants everyone to have the opportunity to come to Him. This is an expression of His love. Meanwhile, we’re to “make every effort to be found spotless” and remain faithful.(v. 14).
Father God, thank you that your time, and patience is linked to your love Time, God, and love, and in these last days, you want to see as many as possible make decissions to follow you. You love is never quick, but it is lasting. For me, Lord, it has been the one sure thing in my life.
In light of this it’s been mind-boggling, when I try to figure out the concept of time, because God is outside of time I will never figure it out. But Lord please help me embrace my times, knowing they are in Your hands. It is in Your name I pray AMEN
