Distraction” Leads To Destruction

Do Not Test The LORD (Dueteronomy 6:1-19) "Be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oathsm in his name. Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land. (Dueteronomy 6:12-15) I believe we in Canada have had it too good over the years and because of it, that distraction has made us self relant and we have felt that we can do it on our own and we do not need God. You see, even good things can become dangers when they turn us from what matters most."GOD" Moses cautioned God’s people here in Deutoronomy about this could happen after they left Egypt and before they entered the land God was about to give them. It was to be a land flowing with milk and honey, a land with “houses filled with all kinds of good things” Things handed to them on a silver platter you might say. These things were things they did not have to work for. (Deuteronomy 6:11). “When you eat and are satisfied,” Moses warned, “be careful that you do not forget the Lord” (vv. 11-12). Those things became distractionsthat caused destructition, they diverted the focus of the people off of God and unto materialism. Taking their focus of the plan of God, it broke their concentration on the God given goals, they wasted valuable time and energy on things that didnt really matter in God's eyes. I wonder how often we do the same thing. But this is the way our enemy works, through subtle deception that eats away at the foundation of your faith. Causing you not to listen to the still small voice of Gods direction and you miss oportunities creating a spiritual film to form over your eyes and ears, and we miss Gods guidance. It is so very important that we watch our time, energy and motives, that they are directed and guided by God, so we do not miss Gods best for us. We must stay close to the word of God and His commands in order to avoid these distractions, they are often just side roads designed to get us lost, and depending on other things rather than on God. The devil seeks to keep us so busy we dont have time, and he will cause us to deviate from the main goals God has set before us. Where, seemingly harmless distractions spring up into our habits, that create strongholds in our lives that are very hard to break, once the cement is set. These things cause a hugeimpact important on areas of life which have been committed to God. My friends, and I am speaking to myself here as well, we all need to become aware of what is distracting us, from doing the perfect will of God, these distractions come, often, while we are waiting for God's timing, in times when there is a lull, God has provided for our rest. And in that time, we get distracted and the enemy seeks to distroy us so we willnot continue in our walk with God. We must seek God to remove these distrations before they take a firm hold on us. God placed a call on my life when I was young, and again in 2010, He refreshed that call, for Rwanda and Canada, that people would need to hear the gospel and they were going to need discipleship. So over the years, I have had to move towards that goal, setting my eyes on that goal, and then wait for God to open doors to that end. While keeping my eyes on Jesus, which has allowed me to keep my eyes on the goal. Giving me a burden for the salvation of the lost and for thier being discipled in the word. As I close today, I want you all as believer in Jesus Christ to remember God in the blessings HE has bestowed upon you. It was not you, but God, that allowed you to have the blessing you have, so it is important to give Him the glory. For He is the source of “every good and perfect gift” (James 1:17). When we humbly thank Him for His goodness and love Him with all of our heart, soul and mind, using all of our strength He gives us to serve and honour Him (Deuteronomy 6:5), we will find that we have enough and His blessings are the very best of all. Him the best blessing of all. Stop for a moment right now, and think of something you are greatful for. Ask yourself, how have all of these good things God has given, changed my life, given me a better life than I could have ever given on my own. Thank You, heavenly Father, for Your goodness to me. Please help me to remember You today! Also help me to seek your will, and find someone else to encourage today, in helping them see your goodness. In Your Name I Pray AMEN.
