Burdened For The World
Burdened For Canada
(Matthew 28:18-20)
"And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me'"."Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"."teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age".
This portion of Scripture is known as "The Great Commission", Jesus claims the full authority God has given to Him, in these verses He gives a command to His disciples. This is not just a sugestion, but a command, #1 to GO, into all the world and preach the gospel and #2 make disciples of all nations, #3. baptizing them, and #4. teaching them to obey His commands. Notice that He comforts them in the fact, they do not have to go alone, He says, I will be with you always, even if you believe you are being sent to the ends of the earth. He says,"I'll be there and thats a promise. So because of this command,as believers we should carry a burden for the lost in the world.
Burdened- I read this story this morning and I connected with it, it seems there is very little burdens being carried for the lost these days. And yet last night at the Share Word Global Banquet (The Gideons) I heard a burden for the lost and a burden to see the scriptures in the hands of the people.
Mary Jones, a poor Welsh farm girl, had only one burning desire: to own a Bible in her own language. No Bible existed in her home, and the nearest one was a couple of miles away. For years she saved money by doing small jobs. Finally, at the age of sixteen, she walked more than twenty miles across the Welsh countryside to buy a Bible from the Rev. Thomas Charles. He later helped start the British and Foreign Bible Society in 1804—an organization that went on to distribute millions of Bibles around the world. AS the Share Wird Global team is doing today and we with Fellowship of Christian Farmers are working along side, to see the gospel go forth here in Canada. As in this story, Mary’s passion for a Bible helped ignite Charles’ passion for a ministry distributing Bibles. It was the hunger for the gospel in Rwanda that gave me a passion to see the lost come to Christ in Canada, and I am seeing the beginnig of anew hunger for the gospel here in Canada as well.
In 2010, after spending a week in Rwanda Africa, I was on my way home on the plain, and my burden for Rwanda was great, but there was a stiring in my heart at the same time for Canada. So in my prayers on that flight, I asked God for a burden for Rwanda and a burden for Canada. I knew there was hundger for the gospel in Rwanda and at that point there was very little hunger for the gospel in Canda, and that bothered or burdened my soul. A burden is something that is heavy and must be carried and delivered somewhere. AS believers we should have a burden for the world, especially for the spreading of the gospel through speaking it and through the written word I challenge you tiday, to ask God to give you a burden or a renewed burden for the lost in the world. Both at home and abroad. Ask Him to show you people who need your prayers for their salvation, and let Him show you what you can do today. "Christians who have little or no burden for the lost are not attuned to the heart of God". Woodro Krool
There are certian burdens we as believers are called to bear and there are burdens that we often carry that we should not be carrying. But one of the burdens we are called to carry is a spiritual and communal burdens that foster growth, love, and community within our churches and in our communities. The scrriptures include bearing one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2) to fulfill Christ's law, and the development of fellow believers through discipleship. We are to lay those burdens at Jesus feet through prayer, standing in the gap with intercessory prayers, and we should be carring for the orphans and widows in our communitoes. All of these things are important to Jesus. Read, (James 1:2,Isaiah 1:17 Deuteronomy 10:18,Psalm 68:5, Zechariah 7:9-10, Jeremiah 49:11)
My question this morning is, do you believe that the Bible is God's love letter to us, written by the hand of God, guided through the authours of the boooks of the Bible. That it is the most important book ever written and that it should be in the hands of every person on earth. That the message with in the bible is the message of salvation that can save the total distruction of every man woman and child on this earth? The bible says "ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORD OF THE GLORY OF GOD", and "THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH. BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE." This message is what Matthew 28:18-20 is talking about. (Read Romans 3:23 and 6:23)
But beware, when the burden for the lost gets a hold of you, the enemy will try and side trak you with good deeds, that you are not called to bear. Over the next few days, I want to talk about some of those burdens was a believers should not carry. But this morning I am trying to impress every believer, that there is a need to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every nation, making sure they have the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that they have a copy of the bible in their hands.
Father God, give me/us as believers a burden for the lost, and keep our focus on your goals not ours. We would save ourselves a lot of burdens by staying on track with your commands. It is in your name I pray AMEN.
