PRAYING WITHUT CEASING
Whisper A Prayer
Speak and Pray God's Word
(2 Kings 4:31–35)
Then he got on the bed and lay on the boy, mouth to mouth, eyes to eyes, hands to hands. As he stretcheds himself out on him, the boy’s body grew warm. Elisha turned away and walked back and forth in the room and then got on the bed and stretched out on him once more. The boy sneezed seven timest and opened his eyes.(2 Kings 4:34-35)
There is no action and or possition that is r=the right or wrong way to pray. In our scripture today Elisha, prayed in at least two different positions One laying on the boy to warm his body and two walking back and forth in the room. Speaks of the ernestness of his prayer and the desire to see God answer his prayer (2 Kings 4:33).
Friends prayer is an activity that tells God you are serious about your relationship with Him and where your faith lies or how much faith you have.. Remember the faith of a mustard seed can move a mountain. (Matthew 17:20) Jesus teaches that even a tiny amount of real, active faith can is a mountain-moving experience. It is not how much faith you have, but rather who your faith is in and what you believe. It is simply relying on God's power. Our faith may start small but ibnce you see God at work through your prayer, there is much room for potential growth.
Prayer is generated in the mind, but very quickly moves to the heart, if we are genuinely concerned about the object of our prayer. I am sorry to say, that many times, my prayers do not reach my heart. I believe God hears the prayer, but I don't think it is as effec=tive as one that moves ones heart and soul.
But my friends, this is for me as much as it is for you.. We are to "pray without ceasing."(1 Thessalonians 5:17), When I first heard that verse, I wondered how that was possible? I was taught that when I prayed, I was to fold my hands and close my eyes, so therefore it would be hard to pray without ceasing when doing certain activities. Such as driving a car. I must say, at times I still have to conciously keep my eyes open, when I'm driving and praying at the same time. But I have learned over the years that prayer can happen any place, at any time, under any condition. Elisah was praying laying on the boy and he was praying while pacing back and forth in the room.
The bible and the life of Jesus shows us that its not the place or posture of the prayer.(Mark 1:35) we see Jesus getting up early in the morning and going out to a quiet place to pray. When He was about to select His 12 disciples. Jesus prayed all night on a mountain (Luke 6:12). When facing death before He was crucified, Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane. As you read that account you will see, He was prayer walking, when you see the ernestness of His prayer, you can bet He was praying as He walked back and forth between the spot He was kneeling at to pray and where He went back to check on Peter, James and John. (26:36-46). Even when He asked Peter, James, and John is they couyld not even watch and pray for one hour and pray with Him, I am sure His prayers to His Father continued going to the Father from His heart. Today, we can be assured that God hears our prayers and will help us.
Over the years, I have learned to pray, from the heart, where my thoughts of someone often are trasfered from my brain to my heart and I breathe a prayer for that person, knowing that God has laid them on my heart for a reason. Lets see, I have prayed kneeling by a couch or a chair many times, but I remember two times where is had great meaning. Also while driving a tractor or a vehicle. While walking around my house, kneeling at my childes bed side. While doing a prayer walk in Rwanda, While fencing and repairing fence on the ranch. Get the point that it does not matter where you are or what your doing you can pray from the heart and God will hear you. The only prayers I know that God will not answer are prayer for Him to help you do something that is wrong. For it says in the scripy=tures if we pray according to His will, HE wil do it. (1 John 5:14-15)
In closing there was a little course we used to sing in Sunday School, and I at one time thought we only needed to pray at meal times, but thats not what the couse was saying. 1 Whisper a pray’er in the morning, it say, Whisper a pray’r at noon; Whisper a pray’r in the ev’ning, To keep your heart in tune. 2 God answers pray’r in the morning, God answers pray’r at noon; God answers pray’r in the ev’ning, To keep your heart in tune. 3 Jesus may come in the morning, Jesus may come at noon; Jesus may come in the ev’ning, So keep your heart in tune. But now I understand, it was saying we could pray at any time, and the most important was to keep your heart in tune with the will of God.
Father God, thank you that you answer prayers, especially those where our hearts are in tune with yours.. Thank you. It is in your name I pray AMEN.
