Humility In Christ
Humble and Inocent As a Little Child
(Mark 9:33-37,Luke 9:46-48,Matthew 18:1-4)
"He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said:
“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children,s you will
never enter the kingdom of heaven". (Matthew 18:1-4)
Humility is a Christ-centered value that should be very central in our lives, humility means we have a lowliness of mind (Philippians 2:3-4, Colossians 3:12), thinkong on serving God, and meeting others needs before your own, not going along with the me first attitude.Friends is not self-deprivation, but what it is looking at yout self as less by acknowledging God to be first and formost in your life. Following Jesus' as the one who sacrificed His all to save you from your sins. It we are truely humble it should be recognized in the grace we show others and in the obedience we have in doing the will of God, seeing it ans an honour to serve Him.
Jusus Christ was a model of this kind of a life stile.Jesus Chrost took the form of a servant, when He was God and came down from God and obeyed God into death on a cross for your sins and mine. In order for this to become lived out in action it must be the attitude of the heart. It has to come from within, a humble attitude of ones self that influences your outward appearance in your looks and actions. Such as your spoken attitudes about others and your serve to them.
This is not an easy task, we seem to be wired to look after #1 first.. We have all seen it in this ME FIRST world. So what is required here is realizing that without God in our lives we are limited in what we can do and we will fall into sin at "the drop of a hat". And pride comes knocking at our door and if we don't stop and lock the door pride will come in. For pride is the root of the sin that so easily besets us..
(Ezekiel 28:1-2, Hebrews 12:1, But on the other hand, when we are humble it is easier to say NO to our pride, bringing us grace and hoinour from our God.
Listen to be humble is not self loathing, but rather the acceptance of who you are in Christ. It is definitly not a weakness but rather a strength. It's not being a door mat, but rather making a choice to serve someone else.
It does not mean denying one's gifts, but recognizing them as coming from God. (Philippians 2:3) says "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves".
So it is backed by Jesus Himself in Matthew 28:1-4, where He says, "be "as humble as a little child" Saying, true greatness in the kingdom of heaven comes from being humble, a teachable spirit, true to your word without seeking to decept, with an attitude of a servant. This my friends is letting go of your selfseeking attitude, trusting and trusting God in everything, and bbeing free to serve others with our recognition.
One of the best humbleness stories in my experience, was when I was directing a Bible Camp, the director of our mission was there visiting at the camp, and we had some sewer problems, as the director manager of the camp it was my resonsibility to fix the problem which involved going down the sewer hole and checking out the pump and repare it. But because the director had plumbing experience, He was willing to humble himself and decend into that horrible smelly place and do the repairs. To me, it was a very humble act and a good example to me as a leader that I should be willing to do anything that I expect those in my team to do.
Father God, help me be humble in your sight, that I might be a good example to all who work for me and with me. That I might show Christ through me and the way I do the things He has called me to do. It is in =your name I pray AMEN
