Reminding Me To Stay Humble

A Thorn In The Flesh

(2 Corinthians 12:1-10)

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12: 9)

In (2 Corinthians 12:7) And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

Paul here talks about that "thorn in the flesh" is was a source of suffering for him, a hardship it seemed he must bare. It was something God left him with to keep him humble and to keep him from becoming to full of himself. "Arrogant", because of his much success on the spiritual front. Paul prayed three times for it to be removed, but God told him my grace is sufficient for you. Read- (2 corinthians 12:9) above.

Paul had this thorn in the flesh given to him to keep him humble after he was transported into heaven and head things any man should never had heard. (2 Corinthians 12:4) Paul had sought after God has drawn near to God, He had intentionally moved forward in his walk with God in such a way that he had aligned his life with the will and plan of God. (James 4:8) It says draw near to God and He will draw near to you. (Jeremiah 29:13, Matthew 28:20)

This type of a relationship only comes about by cultivating a deep, personal relationship with God, through prayer, worship, Study of the word of God, humility, reverence and a heart that is cleaned on a daily bases. Which causes one to seek God with all of your heart. This means to intentionally draw near to God, pursuing a relationship with Him. Making the commands of God personal, seeing His love and guidance is first and foremost in your life.

This involves, turning to God, studying the word of God, Praying without ceasing, living what you preach, Trusting gods plan for your life, loving others, Knowing when you sin and confessing it, then trusting Jesus to finish what He has started in your life. For "He who began a good work in you will carry it through (Philippians 1:6)

If you make this kind of commitment, you will be able to say with Paul that your experience has been overwhelming and really impossible to explain it well enough. Even though He had a thorn in the flesh God said, my strength is made perfect in weakness. (v.9) From experience I can tell you, the more I understand about God the more I understand how impossible it is to put my relationship into words. Yet in my weaknesses and in my loss for words to explain, I find Christ’s grace and beauty puts a smile on my face and a light in my heart, that I cant explain. But I know God is in control.

Dear and gracious heavenly Father, Thank you for Your beauty and the way it has changed me over the years, year by year my weakness has been made strong in you.  me. Please help me humbly rest in You\ and continue looking on to you, to carry pout what you stared, until the day YOU call me HOME. AMEN
