HUMBLED
BROUGHT LOW
Isaiah 14
"You said in your heart,“I will ascendo to the heavens;I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heightsr of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;s I will make myself like the Most High.”But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit". (Isaiah 14:13-15)
In (Daniel 4:37), Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon is very puffed up with pride as well But afterwards he sounds like, forsure his pride was brought low. First he said“ In (v30) - The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?” then in (v34-37) He here was speaking from experience, Yes,this ancient king had to learn the crucial lesson of humility the hard way. As it often is with us, our ancestoirs before us, most have passed through the same things we have, and did we learn from them, "NO" we had to experience it ourselves in order to learn from our own mistakes.
His words of praise to God that he spoke after being humbled (vv. 2-3, 34-37) was very much in contrast with his words of self-adulation before his humiliation: “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?” (v. 30; see vv. 31-34).
The King, the ruler of Isaiah 14:12-14 Who is thought to be (Nebuchnezzer the Second) said something similar. Indeed, kings and kingdoms will all pass away but God’s kingdom endures forever (see Daniel 2:44; 4:3, 34). To Him alone belong all power and glory and majesty.
Two , Kongs both humbled by God, through experience.. Who also did not learn from those who had gone before them. So humanity has not changed its character much over the years, We still have to learn by experience, and have God humble us, in our actions in our day as well.
In Isaiah’s day, the king of Babylon was very self righteous. He was a king we was very human and he longed to “ascend to the heavens” and “sit on the mount of assembly,” where the gods were thought to reign (Isaiah 14:13). The truth of the matter is all man kind have a desire for heaven within them, and this king was no different. But Isaiah prophesied the king would fall (vv. 3-4),he would be“brought down to the realm of the dead” (v. 15) he would be eliminated to the place where there would be no trace of him. He wouldn't even have a tomb to be remembered by (vv. 18-19). Do we desire to be remembered and to be praised, of course we do, we all want something nice put on our tombstone.. Whether we desirve it or not. I have wondered in the past, as I have went to the funerals of wicked men, who never gave a care for God in the least, and yet at their funerals, they were praised for being so very great in so many ways, and they have been preached into heaven. But that is not what the bible sayswill happen. I beleive no one but God, can say whether we will be in heaven or in hell when we die. That my friends is between God and me, and between God and you. But the bible tells me, that if I beleieve in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross for me, I will be saved, also I will be changed and people will know me by the changes I have made in producing good fruit. The fruits of the Holy Spirit found in (Galatians 5) Love, Joy, Peace, long suffering, Patience ........... and so on.
It’s a sad fact that senario has been repeated over and over again sence time began until now. Were people, not just Powerful peopl claim divine glory for themselves and will still one day discover how human they are. God says they will be humbled and every knee will bow to Him.. Because there is only one who is worthy of glory and praise and to reign in heaven, that is why the bible says all power, glory, and majesty are His alone (1 Chronicles 29:11). Are we trying to bring glory to our names, or are we trying to bring Glory to the name of God, in allowing us to do the jobs He has given us on this earth. Also are the jobs we are doing, are they God ordained and is every part of what we are doing furthuring the kindom of God in one way or another.
Father God, I know we as humans are prideful people, and this pride is what kings and people in authority and those who have done well in their proffessions throughout history have claimed divinity for themselves, speaking as though they were God, they were the ones that brought them to where they are. Jesus said, I came not to be served, but to serve others. Lord, there is no comarison between our humble Jesus, and our pridful selves. Father, You are God, and all power and glory are Yours, please help me recognize that, and daily give you the honor and the glory You deserve, it is in Your Name I Pray AMEN.
